There is no frigate like a book To take us lands away, Nor any coursers like a page Of prancing poetry. This traverse may the poorest take Without oppress of toll; How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

[ Fear ]

If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

This quotation means that people are hidden behind masks, because they are afraid to be who they want to be. People strive for acceptance and good judgment, but the real world is much harder. You have to push to be seen as you are, accept who you are and not who you want to be, be the you, you are. People don't want to take risks anymore, because they fear the outcome of their actions. They will not take that step forward.

If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear?
- Confucius

Everything. There are things that have yet to occur that scare us. Things that we secretly fear to happen, things that we despise. But, things that we crave to achieve. Things that give us rushes of adrenaline, things that change our actions to avoid fear.

  1. You have two viable topics here Melanie, at this point you will have to make a choice. Perhaps think about the second part of the tapestry proposal: the associated texts, to help you determine which topic on which to concentrate your attentions. Both will work.
